Arsenal Favourite Admits He’s Hopeful of Playing for Arsenal Before Arsene Wenger Departs

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is nearing a return to playing after spending 18 months out with an achilles problem.

The Spaniard, who is now back in training following his lengthy ordeal, has had multiple surgeries, as well as a skin graft in order to set him right. And with Arsene Wegner’s days in charge of the club now numbered, he’s hoping to play under the French boss at least one more time.

Speaking to Spanish source AS, the player said: “I’ve still got some way to go, because after being sidelined for 18 months, everything has to be done in its own time. But the sensations I have keep getting better and I’m feeling optimistic about the future.

“The objective is to play some part with the team before the season ends, but we have to take things carefully.

“After being out for so long it will take a while to get back into form, it’s a real struggle, but when you have been out like I have, you also notice pains elsewhere – apart from what I’ve had with my tendon.

“But all of that must mean that I am doing things right, and I hope to be back as soon as possible.”

Cazorla also urged the club to give the long-serving boss a good send-off, something he definitely deserves after his 22 years of service.

“I hope the club gives him a good send-off; he has given his life to Arsenal,” he added. “He has made his decision and I hope whoever comes in has all the luck in the world.

“England is second to none when it comes to valuing the work of people who have dedicated their lives to a football club, you could see that in the reception he got at Old Trafford.”

Cazorla, who was working on his fitness at Real Oviedo’s training centre, is due back in England on Thursday, where he will possibly be assessed ahead of what could be a return to competitive action before the close of the se

Barcelona Fans Take to Social Media to Champion Spurs Star as Andres Iniesta’s Worthy Replacement

Barcelona fans have made it clear that they view Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen as the perfect replacement for the departing Andres Iniesta.

The Spaniard will be leaving the Nou Camp after 16 seasons with the club this summer, and having won nine La Liga titles, six Copa del Reys, four Champions Leagues and three FIFA Club World Cups, he will certainly leave big boots to fill for whoever Barca bring in to replace him.

The search for his replacement has already begun, and if Twitter is anything to go by it looks as though the fans have made it clear who they want their club to chase.

A name trending amongst the fans is the Danish midfielder Eriksen, who is having another outstanding season at Tottenham.

He signed for Spurs back in 2013 for £11m – which now looks to be a pretty good bargain – and has helped transform Tottenham from a top four contender into a title challenger. He remains to be a key man in the Spurs’ midfield, having scored 15 goals and contributed 10 assists this season, which has sparked transfer speculation.

Just months after signing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool, it’s looking increasingly likely that Barca are set to dip back into the Premier League and steal one of it’s other stars this summer in order to fulfil their midfield needs.

Tottenham fans would’ve been hoping to keep hold of their star man and add more big names to their side as they look to challenge for the Premier League title next season in their new stadium, however it looks as though they will be in for a fight if they are to keep Eriksen at the club for the start of next season.

Man City Consider Battling Liverpool for £30m-Rated Championship Attacker This Summer

Premier League champions Manchester City could engage in a transfer battle over Norwich star James Maddison with Liverpool this summer, according to the Mirror.

The publication reports that the Canaries are resigned to losing the player following his superb display in the Championship this season and are looking for a sum in the region of £30m for him.

The attacking midfielder has scored 15 goals along with 11 assists in 47 appearances for the side this term, turning the heads of many scouts. But for now, the aforementioned clubs are believed to be the most keen on obtaining his services.

Neither City nor the Reds are reported as having made an approach for the player, but they could attempt to get him in their own corner of the Premier League during the summer break.

Norwich, meanwhile, could see a player exodus during the summer as many of their better squad members have been linked with moves away.

Sitting in the 12th spot on the Championship table with just one more game left to play, they won’t be heading back up to the top flight just yet. And mounting a new challenge in the upcoming season could be doubly difficult given the players they are expected to lose.

If the 21-year-old Maddison does find himself with the option of either moving to City or Liverpool, it could be down to where he feels he’ll get more playing time. At the moment, both sides are well stacked in attack, plus they’re likely to shop some more in the summer.

On the flipside, though, both Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have shown that they’re willing to give young talent a chance since taking over at their respective sides.

Boston had to survive a grueling seven-game series to get past the Milwaukee Bucks.

By the Numbers: LeBron James’s Career Stats Against the Raptors

A look at James’ career numbers against the No. 1 seed Raptors.

LeBron James is arguably one of the best basketball players of all-time, seemingly dominating every opponent throughout his career.

But the Toronto Raptors have had perhaps the biggest dose of James, particularly in the past five years. With Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the James’ led Cavaliers and the Raptors approaching, looking at LeBron’s career numbers shows just how dominant he has been.

All-Time vs. Raptors Reg. Season Playoffs
Record 41-10 8-2
Points per game 27.6 30.0
Rebounds per game 7.2 8.4
Assists per game 7.7 6.1
FG%  52.0 60.1
3PT% 30.9 41.7

Record aside, James has put up some incredible individual performances against the NBA’s northern neighbors. Even way back as far as 2006 (when James was just 20 years old), LeBron became the youngest player in NBA history to score 50 or more points when his finished with 56.

Even though Toronto has home-court advantage in the playoffs after finishing as the No. 1 seed, James has been successful on the road against the Raptors.

vs. Raptors at ACC Reg. Season Playoffs
Record 18-6 3-2
Points per game 28.2 31.2
Rebounds per game 7.6 8.4
Assists per game 7.7 6.1
FG%  49.6 57.0
3PT% 33.3 40.0

You might think those numbers look similar to James’ career numbers. And you’re right. But, in actuality, James has outperformed his norm against Toronto, as his points per game average is his second highest against a single opponent and his total points and assists are his most against any team.

Whether the Raptors can solve the LeBron James formula remains to be seen, but history favors the King.

VIRAL | El curioso motivo por el que a Lionel Messi se lo asocia con el emoji de una cabra

Lionel Messi sigue haciendo historia.

Reggie Wayne Joins Colts as Volunteer Wide Receiver Coach

A six-time Pro Bowler, Wayne played for the Colts from 2001-2014.

As the Colts began Phase 2 of their offseason workout, a familiar face was out on the field – except he wasn’t in pads.

Former Colt wide receiver and potential Hall of Famer Reggie Wayne joined the Colts on Monday as a volunteer coach, working with wide receivers with coach Kevin Patullo.

“Oh man, Reggie, he’s the best,” head coach Frank Reich said. “And sometimes as a coach, when you get a former player that’s done what someone like Reggie has done — which few people have done what Reggie has done — we’re always excited. But furthermore, when you actually coached the guy, it takes it to a whole new level of excitement, because I know the kind of person and the kind of pro that we’re getting. I know his knowledge of the game, his leadership on the field — really, with the whole team — but specifically with the wide receiver group can be dynamic.”

Robert Mathis, one of Wayne’s former teammates, is also helping tutor the next generation of Colts. Wayne will be inducted into the Colts’ Ring of Honor on Nov. 18.

“I think Reggie has the maturity to understand that even though he’s this guy who has put up these unbelievable numbers, whose career is in the elite category, but can still come in and bring leadership to the room … I always thought the goal of the coaches is that (to) try to make these guys better than I was, you know?” Reich said.

Wayne played the majority of his 14-year NFL career with the Colts, winning the Super Bowl following the 2006 season.

Fed-Up Irish Soccer Manager Repeatedly Insists ‘I Am Not an Electrician’

How many times have you heard a coach, when asked about a player’s injury, tell the press “I’m not a doctor”? Well, Irish soccer manager Eddie Gormley put a new spin on that cliché after an electrical failure caused his team’s match this weekend to be abandoned.

Gormley’s Cabinteely side was leading 1–0 against Athlone Town in the second half on Saturday when the floodlights at the park went out. The referee decided to abandon the match, even though the sun hadn’t completely set.

After the match Gormley did an interview with a local radio station in which he was asked repeatedly about the power outage. But Gormley had no interest in discussing the lights and kept insisting, “I am not an electrician.”

A transcript, courtesy of, for those of us who can’t understand an Irish accent:

Reporter: Eddie, what is your understanding of why the game has been called off tonight?

Gormley: The lights weren’t working.

Reporter: Any idea why?

Gormley: I’m not an electrician … I don’t know.

Gormley tried to change the subject but the reporter, god bless him, really wanted to get to the bottom of this whole business with the lights.

Reporter: We’ve heard that it is possible the generator wasn’t working?

Gormley: Like I said, I’m focused on a game, I don’t know what’s going on. All I’m told is the lights aren’t work, so the game was called.

Reporter: If we can stick on the lights for now, because it’s clearly another negative news story involving the league and a first division club. The lights did come on in the second half and went off again …

Gormley: Listen Jamie, I’m a football manager, I’m not an electrician, if you want to talk about the lights, go and talk to somebody who knows something about generators. I don’t know anything about generators. Speak to me about the match, I’m not speaking about the lights, it’s got nothing to do with me.

That’s the kind of stuff you have to deal with when you’re coaching in Ireland’s second tier.

FA Make Reported Decision on Mohamed Salah Ban Following Incident With Stoke Defender Martins Indi

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has been cleared of wrongdoing by the FA after a panel of three former referees viewed footage of his alleged thrown punch at Bruno Martins Indi during Saturday’s draw with Stoke City, per BBC’s Simon Stone

The Egyptian was facing a ban that would have ruled him out of the Reds’ remaining three games, but is now free to pursue the Golden Boot as said panel have determined that his actions did not warrant a red card.

The match official did not see the incident, leaving the FA to have the footage viewed by ex-refs, but they could not come to a unanimous decision, which is required by the governing laws.

The erstwhile officials, upon reviewing the tapes, decided that there was not enough evidence to lay a charge of violent conduct.

Harry Kane, who should play for Spurs on Monday, is also chasing the Golden Boot and is possibly quite disappointed with the decision. He is five goals behind Salah at the moment, and must have been hoping to surpass the Egyptian’s tally in Tottenham’s four remaining matches with a bit more ease.
